SYNOPSIS
Cecilia recorded her family life with a Handycam for more than 15 years. Today, she recounts her experiences while a director, who is her grandchild's mother, reviews her images.
Ninguna estrella [No star] explores the tracks left by the family archive, and the contradictions that come with motherhood.
“No star” emerges from a process of family archeology, opening an intimate exchange between two women of different generations, united by missed feelings toward motherhood.
The film received a Special Jury Mention at RIDM – Montreal International Documentary Festival in 2022, and was selected for competition at the Valdivia International Film Festival. It went on to win Best Documentary Short Film at Cortos en Grande, Best Direction and Best Visual and Sound Proposal at the Festival de Cine Chileno (FECICH), as well as the Young Jury Special Mention. In 2023, the film was awarded Best Short Film in the Ibero-American Competition at FIDBA (Buenos Aires) and Best Short Film by the Young Jury at Archivio Aperto in Italy.
